PUMPKIN CARVING

We got together with our neighbors tonight to eat dinner and carve pumpkins. It was a lot of fun, we got a little creative especially our neighbor Cory. He carved a scary deer/man with antlers on the side. They look pretty cool.
I am actually sitting by Adams Pumpkin and Adam by mine.

Park Discovery

We decided to take advantage of the Beautiful day we were having yesterday in good ol' Cedar City and head to the park. We had never been to this particular park so we wanted to check it out.

We put him in the swings and he thought it was kinda great, but he didn't really understand what was going on.We put Kevin down the slide, I don't think he liked it much
He was a little complacent about the whole thing. Maybe he was tired.Walking the Plank... this whole park is like a kids wonderland with rocket ships and police cars and a pirate ship hence the plank that Kevin is walking. I absolutely love his face here. He is so done with the whole "at the park mom's taking pictures thing"... yet I kept taking pictures cuz that's what I do.
Daddy and Kevin.Adam was throwing Kevin up in the air and even though he was so tired, he totally loved it.

Man in the Making

I have a little onesie that says "Man in the Making". I have always loved it because he is totally a little Adam and I would love nothing more than for him to grow up to be like his Dad. So tonight when I found Kevin playing with the drill while Adam was fixing something, I had to take a picture. He is so totally and completely a boy and he couldn't keep himself away from Daddy's work area. I love it.

So the Doctor asked me at Kevin's one year check up if Kevin was able to feed himself yet, and I said ummmm I don't know I haven't let him try yet. So... this is us giving it a try. He was just a little frustrated... as you can see.
He kinda tried to do it himself...
Then he just sat there...
Until I finally fed him.

Kevin diving into his Birthday Cake

He was a little unsure about all of the attention

We couldn't believe he was turning ONE!!
Then he picked at it with his little fingers instead of diving in like most kids would.
Ummm okay... this isn't so bad.
Alright I'll take a whole handful of this stuff.
Then he discovered the balloon.
Oh I'm SOOO excited.
Look at the mess I made.

Early Thoughts

Here I sit in my quiet little house, baby is sound asleep (or should I say Toddler because he is in fact officially a toddler) Adam is also sound asleep and here sit I, watching the Cosby show at 1:11 in the morning wide freakin' awake. I have a few theories about why I am not sleeping at this early hour... here you go.
#1...I hurt my back the other day getting Kevin out of the car seat and haven't been able to sit or lay down normal since without a heating pack to relax my nerves.
#2...I layed down for a nap today after church and snoozed until 3:30. Mmmmm I love three and a half hour naps... or so I thought.
#3...My head is full of thoughts of baby and his first year. I want to write them all down but now that I am up they are all jumbled in my head.
#4...I have a lot to do this week

Well those are the reasons...maybe now that I got them down hopefully they won't bother me anymore.

Kevin's Birthday

Today was Kevin's first Birthday. I still can't believe it. We have a one year old son. We had a bunch of friends and family over to celebrate. He got so many presents it was unbelievable. We are so grateful for all of the people who love Kevin so much. We want to say thank you to all of you who came and who thought of him today.
Here are a few pictures of the festivities.

Thoughts

So I sit here tonight thinking of where I was last year at this time. Adam and I had just barely arrived at the hospital. With my big round belly and our hearts full of excitement we both knew our lives would never be the same. Our little baby was coming... after 9 months and two long weeks of being in my tummy, he was finally going to come out, we were finally going to get to meet our little Kevin Russell.
After only a few short hours the nurse said. "I better call the doctor, you're ready". I couldn't believe it, I was about to have a baby. We were about to become parents.
Our little monkey was born on October 15, 2007 at 1:16 p.m.
Since that day our happiness cannot be described. He brings so much joy and meaning to our lives. We are honored to have him as our little blessing from Heaven. We look forward to many more years of his crazy faces and cute little giggles.

We spent the weekend with my family in St. George. My sisters were up from Arizona and my niece Briell stuck my other nieces bow on Kevin's head. I have seen this picture in passing a few times and I have mistaken him for a little girl. Ooops.
Jaylin my sister in law absolutely loves to hang out with Kevin. He loves her too. Now you can see why... she feeds him and we all know how much he loves food. I thought it was a pretty good shot of him just sitting there chowing down on the banana.

Kevin kept getting into all of my Mom's cupboards and he found this water bottle that he just loved. He literally sat there and played with it for about an hour.
He apparently loves to play with plastic bottles.
