I Think He Knows

I thought it was cute that he was playing under the table, I mean he is just the right height. So we played a little.
He acted a little bugged.
He tried to push me away, and then I thought to myself... I wonder if he is hiding from me for some reason?
And then I both saw and heard it... he was doing his business. I think he knows it might be a private matter... he is becoming aware of a dirty diaper. We might be on the road to no diapers... then I say to myself... ya right, like I would be so lucky as to have a child potty trained by two.

Icey Daggers

I looked out Kevin's bedroom window yesterday and noticed how HUGE the icicles were. So I took a picture. Then I looked today and had to take another picture to document the growth in just one day. As you can see yesterday this big icicle was probably 3 feet long. And today that thing is at least 5 almost 6 feet long and much much thicker. I can not believe how many more icicles we have today than yesterday.
Look at that thing it is SOOO long!!
Since yesterday at 5:00 we have recieved at least 8" of snow on top of the foot we got on Tuesday, the 5 inches we got on Monday and the 6-7 inches we got on Saturday night. It sure has been crazy. I wish we still had our subaru.

Christmas Game Night

Please sing to the tune of "Oh Christmas Tree"

"Oh Gingerbread oh Gingerbread, how yucky is your frosting
Oh Gingerbread oh Gingerbread, it really is disgusting,
It's not that it just tastes gross,
but it is also worthless
Oh Gingerbread oh Gingerbread, how yucky is your frosting."

Saturday was game night, we decorated gingerbread houses. We were all to lazy too make actual gingerbread. Most of us bought those kits from Wal-mart.
Let me just save you some wincing by telling you now that you should NOT taste the frosting that comes with the kit. It really does taste like glue, so just save yourself the trouble.
Also another good tip... do NOT line your WHOLE roof with skittles, as they are very heavy and the frosting that comes with the kit will NOT hold up under the pressure. As you can see the roof is sliding off as the picture is being taken. All the malt balls on top fell into the house later revived it by resorting to HOT GLUE!! Yup I can always count on my trusty glue gun to get the job done!!
After the roof fiasco I took a quick shot to show off our handy work.

But the rest of the gingerbread houses were pretty much amazing.

Take a look at Josh and Megan's Pentagon replica.

It even has a courtyard in the center of it and although you can't see them very well... my personal favorites are the "Santa" guards and the Santa sniper on the roof who used pretzels as machine guns.

I just realized that I didn't get pictures of the other two houses all finished so you will have to settle for "in the process" pictures

Andi and Curtis having a little fun. They by far had the best fence which was made out of pretzels and frosting which looked like snow.

Greg and Jessica just getting started. Theirs looked wunderbar when they were finished.

Molars... they're a pain

Kevin is getting molars. I was pretty sure he was getting them last week when he was cranky and fussy, but I talked myself out of the thought because that meant he was growing up faster than I wanted him to. But tonight I actually felt them coming through. I couldn't believe it, I had to keep putting my finger in his mouth to make sure, which obviously made Kevin a bit upset so then I would do "the happy molar dance" to make him smile again. It worked of course and then we would repeat the process. I know... I'm crazy.
Anyway I usually post pictures of his major accomplishments, but as you can see, getting a picture of his barely peeking molars was not one of my accomplishments.
I am just amazed at all the growing up a little one has to do, and that my little one year old is definitely doing it. I mean he is getting molars. He will be able to chew most everything. That is a bit scary... and exciting all rolled into one.
It just goes to show you that time stops for no one.

A Breakfast Demonstration

Here we will show you a step by step demonstration on how to eat a healthy breakfast consisting of eggs and toast. You might just say to yourself... "I am pretty sure I already know how to eat eggs and toast" but what I am about to show you will not only be better for you nutritionally but it will also put the "FUN" back into breakfast. The following pictures are provided by my son Kevin in order to show you the proper way to indulge in eggs and toast.

First you must spread the scrambled eggs out in order to cover the whole eating surface (you may also use a plate a counter or maybe even your coffee table. Use whatever is best for you... for Kevin it is obviously his high chair tray)

Then carefully DIVE down and swoop a combination of toast and egg into your mouth. (Depending on the size of your mouth you may get more or less than the demonstrator...this is normal). There are no forks, spoons or hands needed. It is all about the mouth.

Third you must bring your head back up into breathing and chewing position. This is VERY important otherwise choking and/or lack of oxygen may occur. Also for the "FUN" factor make sure to get a little something on your nose, as you can see for Kevin it was a bit of egg.

Then repeat the process until you either satisfy your hunger, or get bored with your eggs and toast. In cases such as the later, you may throw your breakfast onto the ground for someone else to clean up.

I hope you enjoyed our demonstration today. I assure you that satisfaction and "FUN" will be brought to your "Breakfast Time" through strict adherence to these guidelines. Happy Eating!!

Ode to the Car

You may wonder why I have a picture of this car on my blog... well let me tell you a story, I'll try to make it short.
About 3 or 4 months ago Kris and Tiersa (my sister and her husband) came up for a visit and drove a Honda Pilot and we took it for a test drive(he is a car dealer and sometimes gets to choose what he drives up to St. George). We really liked it so when we found out that we could buy a Pilot for cheaper than the car we had and we would have more room to grow, it seemed only logical that we should sell our beautiful Subaru and get a Pilot that would grow with us. We put the car on KSL.com and craigslist and hoped we would get a few bites on it. We had some calls but because it was a salvage title people were scared away. Meanwhile I grew quite attached to my wonderful car with it's leather seats, nice sound system and fast pick-up, to the point that I really didn't want to sell it. I knew we needed something bigger for the future, but I was content. Adam on the other hand had his mind set on selling it with dreams of being able to pack the car for the weekend without stacking stuff around Kevin's car seat. So when a girl named Whitney called on Thursday night, I didn't imagine that by Saturday morning our precious car would belong to someone else.
Yup that's right we sold our car. Can you believe it... we don't have our Legacy anymore. So we are down to one car (the beautiful pink/red/corral one in the background of the above picture) and it'll stay that way for about 6 months so we can save some money and we'll get a pilot later on.
So there it is. I might have cried a little, but ultimately we are happy with our decision. I am pretty excited now that it is all done and I know the Lord is blessing us even though it was hard to let go of the car, I know it is a blessing.

The New Do

We cut my Mom's hair today. When she came she mentioned that she might be ready for a new look, so after we looked at a few pictures for ideas we decided to just go for it. She hasn't had bangs for about 6-7 years, so we "softened" her look a bit by adding some fringe around her face. I love it. Tell me what you think.

INFO

Okay so here is the down low... I haven't posted some major things because I am a slacker. So I have been on a blogging mission this morning. Therefore there are 5 new posts excluding this one. Two of them are quite long but keep going and you will eventually get to the best one. Have fun and don't forget to comment, I love comments.

The Long Awaited Tour

I have had a few comments from people wanting to see pictures of our house. I've put it off because the decorating is not completed yet, but looks like it is still going to take a while to decorate to my likeing so here you go.

Our humble abode

Adam rearranged the garage on Saturday so that we can fit both cars in.
Our Front Door. It's a big door... I like it.Our Dining Room and Kitchen

Our new living room with our old furniture. It works though. This is our half bathroom which is just off to the right of the living room, the doors to the right of it open up to a big closet. At the top of our stairs to the left is our room.

Kevin's Room
Guest Bathroom
Office
Laundry Room
Backyard, we will probably finish it in the spring

Pumpkin Patch

We woke up on Sunday morning and this is what we found on our neighbors front porch. There are three college boys who live there and someone must have played a joke on them by stealing every one's pumpkins from around the neighborhood and putting them in their path. They are still sitting there and we are hoping they get rid of them soon or they will rot and smell nasty.

50's Murder Mystery

About a year or so ago someone in our little group of friends saw the movie "The Breakup" with Jennifer Aniston and Vince Vaughn and then told us that in the movie they have a monthly game night and we all said "Oh what a great idea we should do that too." So we have game night every month and let me tell you I sure do look forward to it. Last year for Halloween we got all dressed up and had a pirate themed Murder Mystery party. Little Kevin was only 2 weeks old and we dressed him like a puppy dog. So this year we decided to carry on the tradition and we had a 50's themed murder mystery. I gotta tell you all, you should definitley try it out it is so much fun. So here are some pictures of our fun evening.

Adam was Calvin Q. Later (calculator), I was Evelyn C. Leigh or E.C. (which we later figured out when you put E.C. and my last name together I was E.C. Leigh... horrible I know)

From left to right we have Curtis (Joseph K. Awledge or Joe College) and Andi (Penelope Lofer or Penny Lofer), Adam and I, Greg (Richard C. Alcitrent... we couldn't figure his hidden name out, maybe it had something to do with Alcatraz because he was "the Rebel"???) and Jessica (Priscilla E. Teene or Pris-teen), and Josh (Delbert Toydes or Del Toydes) and Megan (Dierdre C. Deucer or Dee C. Deucer) Crazy names but they fit the charactors.
Kevin even got in on the fun. He loved Dad's glasses.
I was a bit ambicious and decided to make my skirt. It was hard because I am not a sewer, I even made an underskirt to make it poof out. I was suppossed to be a cheerleader so I cut our an R an stuck it on my shirt.Adam's outfit was AWESOME, he totally looked the part of the Nerd. We found his pants at D.I. and I hemmed them for him so that they were super dorky.
Our little family.
The Girls
The Boys... I mean Men.
